Original interview made by TecnoSlave to Head team of Strage Loop Games, John Krajewski.

First of all, thank you for your time and thanks for this opportunity.

So, you guys, how did you meet each other and how did you team up to make Strange Loop Games?
The core team worked together at Pandemic Studios in Australia. Later I left back to Seattle to start the business, and we were able to continue working together remotely. It’s been surprisingly little hassle, mostly because the team is all very passionate and able to work independently while bringing the same unified vision to the project. We also have two very talented contractors Leonard and Kieran who have taken the project on as their own and handled the audio side.

How did you end up making Vessel?
It started as an experiment building a physics engine which I would dabble with over the years. I kept adding things like object collision and motion, liquid simulation, and liquid simulated creatures, and eventually it got to the point that I realized ‘this could be a pretty interesting game’. From there our teammates came on board and worked for another 2 years to bring it to fruition.

As indie fans know, the Independent Games Festival is one of the most important contests around the world. How did it go there and how did they treat you?
It was an incredible experience, raised the profile of our game tremendously and provided excellent playtesting over those three days. It was a very early version, two years before we would ship the game, but it was still met with a lot of enthusiasm.

How is your experience with Steam?
If it’s possible to love a company, I have a crush on Valve. They are exceptionally awesome to indie developers like ourselves, getting the game setup on there has been a breeze.

Will you develop Vessel for Android, Win7 and/or iOS aswell?
We’ll probably do something on those platforms, maybe in the Vessel universe, but not sure if Vessel itself would port well to mobile.

Do you have any project in mind for new games? If so, will you keep the art and game style?
New ideas – tons. We’ll probably experiment with other styles though, depending on the game.
